M'sian Special Branch Working with Philippine Intelligence on Intrusion

(Bernama) - Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the Royal Malaysian Police's Special Branch was working closely with the Philippine National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (Nica) to investigate and identify the mastermind behind the recent terrorist intrusion in Sabah.

"Our police Special Branch has good relations with the agency. We have obtained intelligence on the involvement of a third party and information on the (Jamalul) Kiram group.

"The intelligence could also involve the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Nur Misuari group, politicians or terrorists," he told reporters after opening the Pusat Giat Semberong at the Taman Sri Lambak hall here.

He said, the good relations between Kuala Lumpur and Manila were reflected in the Philippine coastguards detaining 38 people who were intercepted encroaching in the waters off Tawi-Tawi.

He said the ministry had long established a network cooperation with the regional intelligence agency to ensure stability in the region.

The bilateral intelligence collaboration was not only between Malaysia and the Philippines but also with Aseanapol and the member countries involved in it, such as Indonesia, added the minister.

Najib: GE13 Date Only After Transformation Success

(Bernama) - Prime Minister Najib Razak said the 13th general election (GE13) has not been announced yet because the government wants the national transformation policy to be truly proven successful and that the people fully benefit from it.

He said creative ideas, detailed planning and effective implementation were crucial in the government efforts to champion the cause of the people and bring development to the country.

“That is why we wait until we are exhausted to hold the general election, we wait because I want to prove that the national transformation policy can truly succeed,” he said when launching the Seremban Sentral 1Malaysia People’s Housing (PR1MA) project, Seremban today.    

Also present were the prime minister’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hassan, Information Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim and PR1MA chairman Jamaludin Jarjis.

Kebimbangan terhadap kegagalan di kalangan usahawan Malaysia turun dengan ketara sejak empat tahun lalu kepada hanya 36 peratus pada tahun lalu daripada 65 peratus pada 2009.

Menteri Kewangan Kedua, Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, berkata ini berdasarkan kaji selidik di kalangan 2,000 rakyat dewasa di negara ini seperti yang dilaporkan dalam Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2012.
Beliau berkata, berdasarkan laporan itu, usahawan Malaysia pernah menjadi antara yang memiliki tahap kebimbangan terhadap kegagalan paling tinggi, tetapi ia menurun dengan ketara dibantu oleh kegiatan keusahawanan yang dibentuk dengan lebih baik serta memberi fokus kepada peluang yang ada.

“Sejajar perubahan itu, perniagaan di Malaysia juga kini lebih berdaya saing berbanding empat tahun lalu,” katanya ketika melancarkan Laporan GEM 2012 itu di Kuala Lumpur, semalam.

You were a part of a panel at a forum. A panel forum, which I’m very sure, had an objective to bring forth discourse and intellectual discussion, and to share that with the students.

The forum, which was titled “Seiringkah Mahasiswa dan Politik”, had given the panellists a chance to speak, and also had a session that was open to the floor, a chance for the students to speak.

If the panellists were allowed to share their thoughts and opinions, then by all means, the members of the floor should be given that chance too. It is a forum anyway.

BN Mampu Menang Dua Pertiga Kerusi PRU-13

(Berita Harian) - Melaka Tengah: Barisan Nasional (BN) mampu menang dua pertiga kerusi pada Pilihan Raya Umum Ke-13 (PRU-13), kata Ketua Penerangan UMNO, Datuk Ahmad Maslan.

Beliau berkata, kemenangan itu mampu dicapai sekiranya semua ahli parti tidak bersikap terlalu yakin, tidak sabotaj parti dan perlu menggandakan usaha bagi memastikan kejayaan itu.
Saya berpendapat BN boleh melakukannya (menang dua pertiga majoriti) sekiranya mengekalkan 140 kerusi Parlimen yang dikuasai sekarang dan merampas masing-masing lima kerusi daripada PAS dan DAP, manakala 10 lagi daripada PKR.

Ini pendapat peribadi saya...semuanya logik kerana tujuh daripada 10 kerusi PKR kini bermasalah iaitu enam keluar parti dan menjadi wakil rakyat bebas, manakala satu lagi kalah pada pilihan raya kecil Parlimen Hulu Selangor. Tuanku, with the general election season, it must be difficult to express your views but yet, be fearful what you say will be misinterpreted by irresponsible parties.

It is very difficult, the speeches I prepare, I will go through them many times, write and rewrite again. I want to be specific, but unfortunately, some will twist my words to say I am on the side of such and such a party; or that I am hitting out at such and such a party.

For instance, in a speech I made to university students, I stressed the importance of respect for our Malaysian flag as some people wanted to change it easily. This is the symbol of our national sovereignty. In some countries, people are willing to die for their flag. Malays, Indians, Chinese, we should be proud of our flag. But, some blogs twist my words, to say I am supporting a certain political party with my statement. Maybe some do not like Rulers who speak up.

World's Richest 1% Own 40% of All Wealth, UN Report Discovers

The richest 1% of adults in the world own 40% of the planet's wealth, according to the largest study yet of wealth distribution. The report also finds that those in financial services and the internet sectors predominate among the super rich.

Europe, the US and some Asia Pacific nations account for most of the extremely wealthy. More than a third live in the US. Japan accounts for 27% of the total, the UK for 6% and France for 5%.

The UK is also third in terms of per capita wealth. UK residents are found to have on average $127,000 (£64,000) each in assets, with Japanese and American citizens having, respectively, $181,000 and $144,000. All data relate to the year 2000.

The global study - from the World Institute for Development Economics Research of the United Nations - is the first to chart wealth distribution in every country as opposed to just income, for which more comprehensive date is available. It included all the most significant components of household wealth, including financial assets and debts, land, buildings and other tangible property. Together these total $125 trillion globally.

Malaysian Investors Positive About Local Economy

(Bernama) KUALA LUMPUR: Many Malaysian investors are positive about the local economy and expect Asia to offer the best investment returns next year, according to a Franklin Templeton global poll.

Of the 1,000 Malaysian respondents polled, 44% believed the local economy has improved while a smaller 24% believed it has worsened, according to the 2012 Global Investor Sentiment Survey conducted by Franklin Templeton, a global investment management organisation.

Optimism is particularly pronounced among the younger generation with 49% in the 18 to 34 year-old segment, citing improved or significantly improved perceptions of the local economy over last year.

Local Grads Not Up to Mark

KUALA LUMPUR: Graduates emerging from the national education system are failing to meet the expectations of prospective employers due to a lack of critical thinking skills and poor communication.

This has resulted in employers having to provide additional training to fit them into their respective job scopes while many graduates have to accept employment that does not correspond with their qualifications.

Malaysian-based education, human resource and recruitment consultants feel there is a need for a sound foundation in critical thinking to be incorporated into the education system to prepare future generations for the employment market.

Manpower Staffing Services (M) Sdn Bhd country manager Sam Haggag said there was a distinct gap between what the education system was producing and what employers were looking for.
“This has resulted in six out of 10 graduates from Malaysian universities taking as long as six months to find a job.
